Free Slovenian language courses

The Initial Integration of Immigrants Programme – ZIP, is a free programme for learning Slovenian. It includes topics from everyday life and work environment that strengthen the integration of immigrants into Slovenian society. The ZIP program enables the acquisition of knowledge for basic communication in the Slovenian language and the acquisition of basic information about society, life, history, culture and the constitutional system of the new country upon settling in or at the beginning of your stay in Slovenia.

Citizens of third countries are eligible to attend the course. The courses are held in the range of 180 or 60 + 120 hours, depending on the residence permit you have.

If you want to attend the course, you must obtain a special Certificate of Eligibility for Participation in the Unified Program (Potrdilo o izpolnjevanju pogojev za udeležbo v enotnem programu) issued by the administrative unit.

ZIP programmes are free, costs are covered by the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants and The Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).

After completing the programme, you are entitled to take the first Slovenian language exam at the entry level (A1) or basic level (A2/B1) free of charge.

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

  1. To obtain a certificate for free participation in a Slovenian language course, first, contact the appropriate administrative unit.
  2. Fill out the online form for informational application.
  3. Take the Slovenian proficiency test. Based on your tests results, you will be placed in the appropriate course.
